Work description
Step 1
Trace the large heart pattern once on the polka dot fabric and once on the perforated fabric (photo 1, 2, and 3).
Leave a 0.5 cm seam allowance when cutting.
Step 2
Trace the small heart pattern once on the perforated fabric (photo 3) without seam allowance. Ensure that the perforated pattern on this small heart is cut symmetrically due to the embroidery pattern (photo 5).
Step 3
Iron Vliesofix onto the back of the small red heart (photo 4). Do not set the iron too hot (setting •) and place a dry tea towel between the iron and the fabric. You may need to iron slightly longer than the usual instructions on the Vliesofix packaging because the iron is on a lower setting. Ensure that the faux leather does not come into direct contact with the iron!
Step 4
Embroider the heart according to the pattern on the perforated fabric (see pattern piece in PDF at the bottom of the page on craftkitchen.nl), photo 5 – 7.
Step 5
Iron the perforated heart onto the pink polka dot fabric (with a tea towel in between), photo 8.
Step 6
Place the heart pieces with right sides together and stitch all around, leaving a 9 cm opening on the side to turn and fill (photo 9).
Step 7
Turn the heart right side out and fill it (photo 10). Sew the opening closed by hand.
Step 8
Take a piece of ribbon 25 cm long and sew it by hand to the top side of the heart (photo 11). Use fabric glue to attach the white and red lace along the respective edges.
