Dimensions

The waist of the skirt in the example is 56 cm. This skirt can be made for any waist size. Simply adjust the measurements of the elastic, fabric, and tulle accordingly. You’ll need about three times the length of the fabric compared to the elastic. For the tulle, you’ll need approximately six times the length of the elastic.

Work description

Step 1

Measure the waist. In the example this was 56 cm. Add another 2 cm and cut the elastic to size.

Step 2

Zigzag the ends. Place the elastic with the right sides together and sew the ends together with a zigzag stitch. Open the seam and stitch both sides together again.

Step 3

The fabric is a long straight piece of 30 cm by 150 cm. If you want more length, add a few centimeters to the 30 cm.
Finish the edges of the fabric with a zigzag stitch.

Step 4

Stitch coarse stitching over the entire length of 150 cm with as little tension on the thread as possible. This stitching comes up
about 0.5 cm from the top. Below that, stitch another stitch about 1.5 cm from the top. Now put it on
the top threads and gather the fabric until you are left with the same length as the elastic. (58 cm)

Step 5

Sew the side seam closed. Do the same with the tulle. For the tulle you have a length of 3 m that can be completely wrinkled. If you want more tulle to come out from under the skirt, add a few centimeters to the length.

Step 6

Divide the elastic, tulle and fabric into 4 equal parts. Spell these 4 points together. Now you can do everything nice and evenly
to divide. Pin the elastic slightly above the second stitch.
Now stitch everything together with a zigzag stitch.

Step 7

Remove the loose stitching from the gathering. Hem the seam of the fabric and your skirt is ready
